Aero Saline Solution 15ml ampoule

Aero Saline Solution is a 15ml single-use ampoule of sterile 0.9% sodium chloride, kept in site first aid kits for flushing debris from eyes and wounds. Powerpac sells it individually rather than only by the carton.

Construction sites produce the contaminants that end up in someone’s eye. Concrete and cement dust, grinding swarf, timber splinters and dirt in an open cut. Cement, lime and mortar are strongly alkaline, so eye contamination on a concrete site is not a minor event.

Sterile 0.9% sodium chloride is isotonic, and first aid guidance prefers it to tap water where it is available because it carries no particles of its own. The ampoule twists open with one hand, which matters when the person using it has one eye shut. Each ampoule stays sealed until it is opened and is discarded after a single use.

Site managers, health and safety officers and site first aiders across New Zealand buy 15ml saline ampoules, also called eye wash ampoules, to stock and restock first aid kits.
